The Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC) was established in 1972 to protect the rural economy, natural resources, history and beauty of Virginia’s Piedmont region. PEC helps localities make sound land-use decisions to create vibrant communities, promote sustainable agriculture, protect clean air and water, encourage energy efficiency, and preserve historic resources.
