The Foundation began the Campaign for Afghan Women and Girls in 1997 to stop gender apartheid under the Taliban. The Campaign galvanizes women’s groups, campus and community activists, as well as ordinary citizens and conducts public education to ensure that Afghan women and girls are not forgotten. The campaign also raises money for Afghan girls’ and women’s education, clinics, and employment training and has supported U.S. programs for Afghan women and girls.
